If things weren't bad enough, a fellow skater and a friend has passed. JR Nieves has passed away. He didn't live long enough. I first skated with JR at cheap skates skatepark many years ago, a young kid that was naturally gifted at transition. When he skated he was a go for it type of a person, surrounded by Dave Moyer, Jason Skupakus, Gene Rosmarin and Damian Smith you can understand why. I moved away to Jersey a few years ago and haven't seen JR that much and this was a genuine blow to me and the Philly scene. My thoughts and condolences go out to his family. His funeral is this Thursday in Norristown, PA. I want to start a rally for this years Skate day to be in honor of JR, at least in Philly if nothing else. I think there should a deck in his casket........................See you Thursday my man.
